a NEW favorite

This mug was sent to us from our German friends in our recent care package...and for whatever reason, it has become my new favorite coffee mug. There isn't anything unique about it...I am sure these things were made in bucket loads over there...but I like the shape and the silly Christmas imagery on the outside...yeah RANDOM I know!

FOTOfriday - SOOC

This week's challenge was SOOC - Straight out of the Camera ... no editing. These are some pics I took the morning after the big snowstorm as the sun was working its way into the sky. It slightly melted some snow on my front porch...but with a temp of 8 degrees for the high...I wasn't expecting any of it to go anywhere.

Thank goodness that Groundhog didn't see his shadow...I am definitely ready for Spring to get here sooner rather than later...because I am ready to get outside!

YOUcapture - RED

Sydney has been home from daycare the last two I asked her to look around her room and find things that were red...such an easy way to engage her in the fun.

Ahhh, the red Wonder Woman address book that I bought years ago...still haven't written in just brings back memories of my childhood and how cool I thought she was.
Now who didn't want a pair of those Red Boots??
The Crock Pot I received as a Christmas Gift...
Our Adirondack Chairs after the snowstorm
My $20.00 splurge in Vegas over Thanksgiving
And just a heart which gave good contract against the new snow!
Our big red marshmallow of a coat for Winter storms...

Just a little bit of what we had roll on thru the sun is shining, but it is something like 8 degrees and a windchill of -21! Daycare is closed...I am working from home, and enjoying that I don't have to actually go anywhere.

Before & After

Sydney's attempt at putting her own hairband on the other day...after I made her pose, I got it fixed...and eventually got around to wiping the leftover breakfast off her face!

OCEAN in the SKY

I took this shot on Sunday when we were out and about. Matt noticed that the clouds looks like waves rippling through the sun...I snatched my camera from my bag and tried to get a shot from my moving vehicle to share what a spectacular sight it was.

It is a goal of mine this Spring to build a compost pile at the back of our yard. Last month I became pretty diligent about throwing the compostable scraps we have from meals into a bowl and then taking them to the backyard where I have been piling things like our pumpkins, old plants etc until I can work on getting the actual compost pile made. everyone knows, this stuff accumulates faster than you think sometimes and before I knew it, I would have a bowl on the counter spilling over. Well with the cold weather I wasn't moving it to the backyard very quickly. I had one small container under the sink with a lid, or I would cover the bowl with plastic wrap ... (another item I am going to try to stop using) ... but I just wasn't happy with how the process was going. I have been looking for the perfect compost-tin, one that I could keep under the kitchen sink or in our mudroom...that would hold enough so we wouldn't have to empty it daily, and tonight we found it on a random trip to Lowe's. This is a 6 gallon tin can with a lid and handle that I couldn't be happier about.

It is definitely a start ...
