Summer is flying by and so is her childhood...
Although she just turned two this May,
Matt and I swear she is going on 13!

I snapped this pic just minutes ago as the morning downpour finally lifted and the sun broke through the clouds. There was sun at the end of this long dark rainstorm...just like there is good at the end of bad times. It has been a rough year to say the least for so many people that I know including the ridiculous summer we have already experienced with the death of two young souls, and our neighbor in just the past 45 days. I think the hardest part through it all, is realizing that life must and will go on. Time can only stand still for so long before it requires us to jump back in. I was told once that we are meant to lose the ones we love, how else would we know just how much we care about them. People we know leave this world for various rhymes and reasons all the time. Sometimes it is expected, and we have time to say good bye, allowing the pain of losing them to encompass their departure. But others catch us off guard, leaving us at unexpected times, and we are forced to endure a pain so much stronger than we knew existed. I am reminded that we are not invincible even when we think we are...that we are human, and our bodies can only endure so much before it no longer has the strength to carry on. I am reminded that life can be taken at any time no matter what you are doing...and that we should try our best to enjoy every minute of every hour of every day (even when it seems impossible to do so). To tell the ones we hold dear to us that we love them, that our lives would not be the same without them or the experiences that they have given us and the memories we hold dear. I am reminded that in death, you learn a little more about yourself, the strength of others, the world you live in, love and friendship, and that we should all cherish our time together...
however short or long that happens to be.
