YOUcapture - FEET

This week's topic was two ways.

#1. Since I was young I have been taking pictures of my feet in places and on trips as a memento and reminder or testament of where I have walked and the wonderful places I have had the opportunity to visit already in my life. One of these days I will dig out some of those older images ... the ones before Digital was the 'thing' and show everyone just want I am talking about. But you can also visit my FLICKr link here and see a few of the ones I have taken in the last few years on trips or around.

#2. As of today I have only 80 days left of my 20's. I turn 30 in June and as a gift to myself I REALLY want to drop some of this extra weight and go into my 30's feeling better than I have in the last 10 years. So...I am actually getting ready to buy new jogging shoes, enjoy my new schedule and the warm weather that has finally come to KC to stay and get these FEET moving. Moving on the pavement or in the grass, but just hopes that some of that weight will be gone by the time I celebrate the passing of this last decade and welcome what life has to offer me in my 30's...

For those of you who don't know what I actually do when I am not being a Mom, Wife, Blogger...I am the Office Manager for my father's 30+ year photography business here in KC. work schedule has been pretty chaotic since Sydney arrived almost 2 years ago this May. Matt and I have chosen not to put her in daycare mainly because I would be working ONLY to support her daycare costs...and to me, that just wasn't worth it. So rather than quit, I have cut back on my hours and have beening working Part-Time ever since. We have been REALLY fortunate to have that flexibility with my position, and to have so many family and friends who have been there to help us with Sydney when we've needed it. But lately it was just getting to be way too much. I was doing more running around just getting her to a different household every day so I could run to the office to do the same things I could be doing from home. So...I have been really excited about this new transition and officially moved my office home last night. I spent the better part of this morning re-organizing the space to set it up with everything I need, including the second computer...and I anticipate a few days back and forth to finish it completely. With Matt's FF Schedule I'll still be going into the office a few morning a week, and making frequent dropoffs and pickups, but the pressure to get there and get everything done in such a short time frame will no longer exist. I like that I will be able to work on things early in the morning and while Syd is napping which means more time and attention to her...and the flexibility of doing the same on the weekend if need be which keeps it all in check. I already feel like I can's to was needed and I welcome it.

We were the silent auction winners of these two fantastic bowls donated by FOUR STAVES STUDIO here in Kansas City. They actually specialize in handmade urns, but donated a few of their other works just for us! AND it helps that they are related to one of the Flamin Hotties! Out of the ENTIRE auction this was the one set I had my eyes on ALL night and was hoping that maybe, just maybe, in the hustle and bustle of the evening we would come out ahead. The best part is that all of our proceeds go to a wonderful cause...The American Cancer Society!!! This set was also paired with a beautiful yellow (that's right...Rock Chalk Colors!) handmade vase which I will post just as soon as I have some spring flowers to show off in it!!! My lilac bushes are budding this year post that final snowstorm and hopefully will bloom! It's been too long.

The Flamin Hotties hosted their 5th Annual Auction / Fundraiser this past Saturday night out at St. Jame's Academy in Lenexa. All proceeds went towards out 2010 Team Goal for the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Shawnee and Lenexa Kansas coming up in June. All in all we had another GREAT turn out! I am waiting for the final numbers to come in...but I think we raised between $8,000 and $9,000! Way to go Hotties! Yet another successful event!

Remember that CUTE REUSABLE bag that I had on display last week...well here is what was inside it! I made some personalized onesies for my friend Jen who is expecting Baby No. 2 in just 4 short weeks. I cut out a few designs from cute fabrics and just ironed them on with some self stick iron-on adhesive I picked up at the fabric store. SUPER simple...and SUPER easy.

Can't wait to meet the newest member of their family soon!!!
