Silly SYD two

Just a few silly things Sydney was doing this week.

1] Using her Drum as a helmet...maybe she's going to be a diver.
2] Getting Stuck under her Highchair
3] Hanging w/ Ma as we shopped Costco...nice setup, huh!

SATmorningEXERCISE

I walked in to the living room earlier and caught Sydney exercising to the show on PBS...what is funnier though is that she was actually in-sync with it! Hilarious :)

beak'EM

Jayhawks pulled thru last night
[after a rough first half] to beat the Texas Aggies 79-66
I know this is wrong...especially in regards to the 'hawks,
but I was bored and didn't even pay attention to half the game.

However, I hope they can do it again
over K-State in the Championship tonight...

And other than the movie I am scheduled to go to which
I will be in the middle of when the game starts...I will cheer
them on in the car, listening from the radio on my way home.

22 Months

- Colors -
Knows the colors in the rainbow, black & brown
Likes to point them out whenever she can.

- StopLights -
We had a conversation one day about the colors in a stop light...
The other day while driving...she informed me that
Green lights mean GO, Red Lights mean STOP

- Alphabet -
I am making her handmade flashcards.
We show her letters and she repeats them.
While in the drive thru at the Mission Bank she kept
shouting 'b' from her seat...took me a minute to realize
she was pointing at the letter B in the Bank sign.

- Numbers -
Will hold up one finger when asked how old she is.
Will tell you how old she will be soon.
Likes to line things up and then we count them.

Dancing - Repeating - Running - Climbing - Singing - Possessive - Loves her Puzzles & Reading Books - Enjoys the Park - Growing, Growing, Growing - Yells Hello when we pass strangers - Yells BYE rather dramatically whenever we leave somewhere - Gives lots of squeezes (hugs) and kisses - Loves to Roll across the carpet - Take walks down the street - Pushes her stroller in stores because she refuses to ride in it - Sesame Street Addict - Talking, Talking, Talking! - Still sleeping well - Throws Tantrums - Picky Eater - Won't leave home without her Blanket - Loves to Draw or Color - Has to do almost everything for herself...until it frustrates her.

This has been one of the most interesting times with Sydney to date. She is literally doing something new every other minute. You'll say something once and she'll be repeating it and understanding it very quickly after that. She is a SPONGE and we are loving every minute as she defines her personality, characteristics, spreads her energy, and challenges the world!

takingNOTES

Found these at Barnes & Noble last night...and of all good places in the Bargain section for CHEAP! Just thought I would share...I love the designs of both of these and look forward to making many future lists and notes all over the pages.

YOUcapture - QUIET

[QUIET] ... So I cheated this week. I didn't pic up my camera and take pictures, instead I am posting pictures [that I did take last summer] of the one place that is my [QUIET]. My families cabin in Tom Miner Basin, just North of Yellowstone National Park in Montana. We traveled here every summer since I was three years old...it is my home away from home, and I look forward to the smell, the scenery, the [QUIET] that greets me each time we arrive...

[QUIET} is the view from the front porch as I sit in the swing...

[QUIET] is the hike up to the scenic outlook my older brother Tyson made for my Mom...and the ahhh...inspiring view when you reach the top.

And [QUIET] was the sunrise that greeted us oh so early the day we had to leave to come home...

For more inspiring takes on [QUIET] visit this link.

CODYandRILEY

Snapped this shot of the dogs this past weekend while working in the backyard. That landscaped path running down the middle was created by them over the last 7 years of living in this house...and it continues around the perimeter of the yard. They have definitely made their own home here with us, and I look forward to a new environment for us all sooner or later this year!

Showing #21 this evening!
Cross your fingers...maybe this will be it.

willPOWER

I made the mistake of letting myself buy a bag of the Hershey's Milk Chocolate Eggs the other night when we ran into Target to get only two things and came out with twelve. These reminded me of my childhood...but now I can't stop eating them, and remember how much I can't have stuff like this just laying around my house in plain sight! Seriously, I have no will-power when it comes to chocolate!

OverlandEXPO

So...some of you may remember a little POST I did last year...about a trip we were going to be making to Arizona for the FIRST ANNUAL OVERLAND JOURNAL EXPO. Unfortunately, we decided at the last minute that it wasn't in our best financial interest to make the trip at the time. We had just returned from my brother's wedding in Hawaii, had some other things come up, Syd was only turning 1, and we had several other trips like Montana and Germany to think about. So, we decided to post-pone this adventure for another year, and they graciously allowed us to transfer our registration for this coming April 2010.

For those of you who don't know what overlanding is...try this on for size...Overlanding is about exploration, rather than conquering obstacles. While the roads and trails we travel might be rough or technically challenging, they are the means to an end, not the goal itself. The goal is to see and learn about our world, whether on a weekend trip 100 miles from home or a 10,000-mile expedition across another continent. The vehicle and equipment can be simple or extravagant - they, too, are simply means to an end. History, wildlife, culture, scenery, self-sufficiency - these are the rewards of overlanding.

Matt and I have always talked about how we grew up traveling, car camping with our families, endless roadtrips...and we hope to provide those same adventures as well as others for our kids. The Overland Expo is an avenue to learn about how to take camping and traveling up a notch. It helps prepare you for what you might encounter and what you can do if you find yourself stuck in the middle of nowhere and you have to patch a tire or four-wheel over terrain you've never seen before. Yeah, yeah...there are some of you laughing right now because you would never put yourself in that position to begin with. But that is where we differ...Matt and I want to explore this world by whatever means we have available to us. We want to show ourselves and our kids that there is so much more to this place than the suburbia we currently live in. And it is by experiences things like the OJEXPO and traveling across this beautiful country of ours that we hope to fullfill some of those adventures!!!

We can't wait to cruise down to Amado, Arizona mid April and share all of the wonderful techniques and information we bring back with us. Sydney is fortunate enough to get to tag along with Mom and Dad...we'll be camping onsite and attending classes at the Expo. More to come as we finalize our route, pack up the vehicular modular and hit the road next month!!!

7 for 7

Thought I would continue this random BLOG streak I am on and see if I can do 31 posts this month! This weekend has been CRAZY! I am diligently trying my best to get caught up on some things I just haven't been able to make time for...however, my list always gets alot longer before I can shorten it. We had two showings yesterday on the house, one this morning, and we are getting ready to pack up again to get out of here for a SECOND showing!!! Maybe this will be the one...but we also have one scheduled for tomorrow over lunch. We are coming up on 20 showings in the past 4 weeks, and with Spring here I am itching to get out and get serious myself about finding the next house! The weather this weekend was perfect, KU kicked MU's butt yesterday...and today we fired up the power washer, cleaned off the deck which is now BBQ ready...may just end the evening out there, with a fire going and a big glass of wine or a cold one...in both hands! Here's to a better, less crazier week than this one was...but I doubt that request is going to be answered just yet! Hope everyone had a great weekend!
