We attended a HATparty last night in honor of Traci, my Sister-In-Law's mother who is battling Stage II Breast Cancer. We love you Traci and look forward to the day we can all call you a SURVIVOR of this disease!

Ice Cream

I don't remember ice cream looking like this when I was growing up...but indeed it does now. Sydney and I went out for ice cream yesterday during a showing at our house. She gobbled up the fruit punch, apple, raspberry-ish sherbert I got her! And then ate what was left of my cone.

YOUcapture - HOPEFUL

I am a member of a very special group of Ladies here in Kansas City called the [FLAMIN HOTTIES]. We are a group of Fire Fighter Wives that came together back in 2006 when one of our own was battling Breast Cancer. Through this unfortunate experience, we bonded amongst a common goal and vision. In honor of a lovely lady who was fighting for her life, we formed this team for the local RELAY FOR LIFE of SHAWNEE & LENEXA, and raised $8000 for the American Cancer Society, putting on our first auction just 3 weeks following the news of her diagnosis. AND NOW...we are into our 5th year, having raised over $55,000 dollars for organizations within the community...the majority going to ACS through our RELAY FOR LIFE efforts!

Last week when I saw the YOUcapture assignment I immediately thought of this group first. Because through our efforts I am HOPEFUL that we will continue to raise the awareness on a disease that takes way TOO much. In just these past 12 months I have been presented with numerous stories (and deaths) of young children and young adults battling different forms of cancer. One of which sits close to Sister-In-Law's mother Traci...currently fighting Stage 2 Breast Cancer.

This group has not only grown from 12 to 24 members, but we constantly involve our spouses and children, we have been awarded within our Fire Department, and are recognized throughout our City, and local community with our ongoing efforts. I am encouraged daily by this strong group of women, that through our FIGHT we will create a world with MORE BIRTHDAYS and maybe, just maybe, our children will live in a Cancer Free World!

For more information on this group...visit one of my other BLOGS here!

I think she'll make a great BIG sister some day!!!

Yes...those are the Captain Morgan beads I so graciously received last year on my Birthday outing when the Captain himself showed up at the Bar dressed in full regalia! She found them in the drawer the other day, and yes she uses the end as a magnifying glass.

Who doesn't like a little captain once in awhile!

BabyPICS : Zach

I had a great time taking some newborn pics of my friend's nephew this weekend. He is a cutie...and yes that middle name does stand for LAWRENCE, KANSAS! Rock Chalk Baby!

It's been awhile since I have been able to really let the creative juices flow. Partly due to the fact that I have NO ROOM in this house to do it! And now that we have packed everything up...CRAFT stuff included in order to make the house presentable for prospective buyers...I am completely naked! I have realized just how much I miss having good, organized access to all the things that help me create! I know what I am looking for in the next house, and maybe it will be here sooner, rather than later!

This is when my Brain is at its Best...when I can sit down and put my ideas together! In my 101 Challenge which you can follow HERE...I challenged myself to create all HANDMADE gifts for ONE YEAR! And so far, 2010 may just be it! I made this handmade TUTU for my niece Genesee who just turned 5 this past week. SUPER EASY!!!

I bought 4 different colors of Thule...2 yards each.
Then I cut them into strips.
The longer the strips, the longer the TuTu,
the shorter the strips, the shorter the length...

I then take the strips and loop knot them over a piece of Ribbon...
Creating the waist band.

Knot the ends closest to the Thule and then tie the end into a Bow.
This is how you will put it on and take it off.

My idea paid off...I had a lady approach me in the restaurant last night asking about these. I explained how easy they were and she told me I should sell them. I told her she could do it herself, and she looked at me and laughed...she said she isn't the most creative when it comes to things like this...and I gave her my information. Told her I would be happy to create and sell a few to her. AND I really think she's going to call. Funny how things work.
I have a few other projects I completed that I will post about soon!

Dog Park

Got the dogs out of the house yesterday afternoon while the house was shown to prospective buyers. They've been pent up in the garage ALOT this winter with the weather and our house being on the market. Looking forward to a new house and a new environment for all of us this year! Keep your fingers crossed, we are a #2 favorite on one buyers list!

[SUN]day Morning

Sydney and I were up MUCH earlier than usual today. We took my In-Laws and Matt's Aunt & Uncle to the airport. This was the scene on the way back home...I know I shouldn't multi-task and drive...but this sunrise was too pretty to pass up!
