Reflections of 2008

In 2008 I . . .

  • Rang in the New Year bowling on the Wii at the Rogers house.
  • Grew another human being inside me...and carried it to every beat and kick.
  • Sneezed and peed my pants...all my pregnant friends will enjoy that one.
  • Learned what stretch marks really are...and that they will never completely go away.
  • Checked into the Hospital and was induced the day after Mother's Day.
  • Had an amazing pregnancy and gave birth to a beautiful daughter.
  • Fell in LOVE with my husband all over again just for being by my side.
  • Never knew I could fall in love with someone other than my husband...my daughter.
  • Became a mother and a parent.
  • Watched my youngest sibling walk the stage at his high school graduation.
  • Celebrated my Twenty-Eighth Birthday.
  • Raised $1000+ dollars for Cancer Research.
  • Helped oversee my first Relay for Life as a Committee Member.
  • Won the Terry Zahn Award for excellence in Communications and Marketing for Relay.
  • Said good-bye as my brother and sister-in-law moved to Montana.
  • Celebrated 5 Years of Marriage.
  • Joined the Shawnee Mission North Opportunity Fund Board as the Alumni Chair.
  • Watched my oldest Nephew start High School.
  • Helped oversee and attend my Ten Year High School Reunion.
  • Participated in finally electing what feels like my first real President.
  • Thanked my Husband for working so hard and paying off my school loan.
  • Welcomed over 20+ babies to Earth between family & friends.
  • Celebrated Nine Years of Total Togetherness with Matt since we started dating...
  • Finally felt comfortable and at peace admitting I don't believe in a Religion or a God.
  • Cried for no other reason than for being thankful I did not lose anyone this year.
  • Learned that I can no longer take care of everyone else without taking care of me first.
  • Learned that I have to ask for help if I really want it.
  • Felt ultimate peace whenever Sydney fell asleep in my arms.
  • Realized what true friends really are.
  • Did not take a true vacation...just short weekends here and there.
  • Missed the Mountains.
  • Came to terms with the fact that if I want to change this body, I HAVE to do it!
  • Managed to still stay up until 12:01 on New Year's Day 2009 to post this.

I am forever grateful for the opportunities life has given & still gives.
I wish you all nothing but the best in the coming year.
I hope that it brings you all happiness & the strength to achieve anything!

HAPPY NEW YEAR...WELCOME 2009!

Christmas Day...

Christmas Day is ALWAYS a whirlwind of jumping from one families house to the next...we are looking forward to a day when everyone will come to us! Wishful Thinking on our part...probably not going to happen until my Grandchildren are here! We met up at Matt's Aunt's house for a quick gift exchange between all of the Cousins. We use a festive word - this year it was S N O W F L A K E S - There are 10 of us and 10 Letters...so we then draw a letter for each person and you have to purchase a $20 gift card at a store that starts with that letter. Sounds easy...but we eliminate restaurants immediately and sometimes you have to get creative with your letter. After the Cousin Gift Exchange we headed over to Matt's Parents house to have our gift exchange, and then his Aunt, Uncle, Grandma, and cousins come back over for our exchange together. After that we hung out for a bit before heading over to my parents house where we had a quite unusual exchange this year. As most of you know, my family just keeps getting bigger! So with the economic crunch that we have all felt this year, we decided that we would draw names as usual, but instead the limit is $5.00 and you have to make it! Here are a few of the creations that some of the fam came up with up... 1) Replica of our Montana Cabin made out of Gingerbread & Pretzels for Logs...this was to my Dad from Matt. 2) The 'Drunken Timmay' filled with delicious unhealthy snacks like cookies and chexmix for the next time Tim comes home from the Bar - given by Angela to Tim. 3) The Hammer Toolbelt Hook for Tyson made by my Dad for when Ty finishes school in Montana and finally hangs up his toolbelt. 4) The $5 that Tim wrapped up for me since he isn't as creative as everyone else and waited until the LAST MINUTE and 5) A loaf of Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips made by Molly for Matt. There were several others which I failed to get pics of...but it was an interesting exchange!!!

Christmas Morning

Unfortunately lil'miss Sydney woke up Christmas Eve night with a wonderful cold...or the beginning of her teeth coming in...everyone has told us that it comes in the form of a cold, however, nothing has popped through just yet. Either way, it didn't stop her from opening gifts. Here are a few shots of Sydney on Christmas Morning...

Busy Bee's...

Well it has been a busy week here in the Epperson House...last Sunday we visited with our friends Evan, Deanna and Austin. It was nice to see them and catch up before the holidays...Austin is getting so big and Sydney surprised him when she climbed up to say Hi while he was playing in his saucer!

On Monday night, the girls got together and pulled all of the items we had collected for families in need and got them ready to drop off to Matt's Aunt for delivery. Sydney & Neva had fun with the tissue paper...

Christmas Eve night was a baking fest around our house...we baked cookies and gingerbread for the gift Matt was creating...and Great-Grandma Epperson, Grandma & Grandpa Epperson and Uncle Jon all stopped by to say Hi on their way home from church.
