Additional Relay Pics...

The Shawnee Fire Dept. Honor Guard opened up our Relay Ceremonies...and Jillian Sharp and her family told their personal story about how Cancer has touched their lives. Jillian who is 4 years old, finished her last round of treatment just before Relay. She joined us by leading the Survivors in the opening lap around our track.

Sydney was quite the trooper and stuck it out with Dad until just before the rain came in...
Below is my team the Flamin Hotties who raised over $18,000, and next to it, a few of our kids who formed their own youth team this year...The Firecrackers!

At dusk we celebrated those battling and those we have lost with our LUMINARIA ceremony. It was heartwrenching to see just how many people are touched by this disease within our community...but that is why I am here, along with everyone who came out to Relay...we came to CELEBRATE - REMEMBER - AND FIGHT BACK again CANCER!!

I am so proud of all that was accomplished this past weekend and what we can still do for future Relays and the fight against this disease.

If you are interested or know of anyone interested in participating in the 2009 Relay For Life of Shawnee & Lenexa put them in touch with me. The more the merrier!!!

Most of you know how involved I have become in the last two years with the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Shawnee & Lenexa. It was a priveledge this year to take part in this event not only as a FLAMIN HOTTIE still, but as the Public Relations & Mission/Advocacy Chairs on the 2008 Committee.

We just wrapped up our final event this past weekend and I can't tell you how estatic I am at our final results! Not only did we practically triple our teams from 13 last year to 37 this year; we had a wonderful Survivor turnout and DOUBLED the amount of $$$ raised! We stuck it out through the rain...and although many teams went home, the committee reminded those who stayed that their dedication did not go unappreciated...Cancer does not stop for those battling it when it rains, and neither did we...our final total at 6am on Saturday morning was...

That's right!

We were all just overwhelmed at our accomplishment this year and can't wait to get started on the next one!! I want to personally thank each and every one of you who have supported me in my efforts to raise the awareness on this disease within our community! I am so proud of my Team Members who raised over $18,000 this year, and to the Committee for reaching our goals of making this event even bigger and better!!! It has been a pleasure working with all of you this year!!!!
