Christmas Day...

Christmas Day is ALWAYS a whirlwind of jumping from one families house to the next...we are looking forward to a day when everyone will come to us! Wishful Thinking on our part...probably not going to happen until my Grandchildren are here! We met up at Matt's Aunt's house for a quick gift exchange between all of the Cousins. We use a festive word - this year it was S N O W F L A K E S - There are 10 of us and 10 we then draw a letter for each person and you have to purchase a $20 gift card at a store that starts with that letter. Sounds easy...but we eliminate restaurants immediately and sometimes you have to get creative with your letter. After the Cousin Gift Exchange we headed over to Matt's Parents house to have our gift exchange, and then his Aunt, Uncle, Grandma, and cousins come back over for our exchange together. After that we hung out for a bit before heading over to my parents house where we had a quite unusual exchange this year. As most of you know, my family just keeps getting bigger! So with the economic crunch that we have all felt this year, we decided that we would draw names as usual, but instead the limit is $5.00 and you have to make it! Here are a few of the creations that some of the fam came up with up... 1) Replica of our Montana Cabin made out of Gingerbread & Pretzels for Logs...this was to my Dad from Matt. 2) The 'Drunken Timmay' filled with delicious unhealthy snacks like cookies and chexmix for the next time Tim comes home from the Bar - given by Angela to Tim. 3) The Hammer Toolbelt Hook for Tyson made by my Dad for when Ty finishes school in Montana and finally hangs up his toolbelt. 4) The $5 that Tim wrapped up for me since he isn't as creative as everyone else and waited until the LAST MINUTE and 5) A loaf of Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips made by Molly for Matt. There were several others which I failed to get pics of...but it was an interesting exchange!!!

Christmas Morning

Unfortunately lil'miss Sydney woke up Christmas Eve night with a wonderful cold...or the beginning of her teeth coming in...everyone has told us that it comes in the form of a cold, however, nothing has popped through just yet. Either way, it didn't stop her from opening gifts. Here are a few shots of Sydney on Christmas Morning...

Busy Bee's...

Well it has been a busy week here in the Epperson House...last Sunday we visited with our friends Evan, Deanna and Austin. It was nice to see them and catch up before the holidays...Austin is getting so big and Sydney surprised him when she climbed up to say Hi while he was playing in his saucer!

On Monday night, the girls got together and pulled all of the items we had collected for families in need and got them ready to drop off to Matt's Aunt for delivery. Sydney & Neva had fun with the tissue paper...

Christmas Eve night was a baking fest around our house...we baked cookies and gingerbread for the gift Matt was creating...and Great-Grandma Epperson, Grandma & Grandpa Epperson and Uncle Jon all stopped by to say Hi on their way home from church.

Oh heavens...

So I was moving some laundry just a little while ago and when I walked past Sydney's room and glanced in to see if she was peering at me through her wooden jail cell, I found that she was actually standing up staring at me from her crib with the BIGGEST grin on her face like she was saying "Merry Christmas Mom & Dad, now you have to put my crib rail all the way up!" Then she fell over and started the process again! I ran for the camera, then called Matt...Happy New Year...walking may be in our future sooner than we thought.

Cookies & Gingerbread houses

This past Sunday we visited Matt's Grandma Lora for an afternoon of Cookie Baking and Gingerbread house making...the one in the middle was constructed by Matt and decorated by yours truly. Needless to say we made Grandma's Day.

7 Months...

SEVEN MONTHS...I know, I know, I say it every time I do one of her monthly updates, but REALLY where does the time go? In the last month she has started laughing at us, squeals at the top of her LUNGS just to hear her own voice, has finally taken to her meat and veggies, she is holding her bottle on her own, army crawling to her hearts content, started working on using the sippy cups, and is sitting really well on her own. She has also found the cable box and rolls herself all over the place in her is just amazing to me the things we find her doing on a daily basis...and we are really looking forward to our first Christmas together.

Happy Holidays...

We took some Pics today since the weather has warmed up a bit...however it's extremely windy around here, and next week is supposed to bring nothing but we are enjoying it while it lasts...hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Too bad I couldn't get one with her smiling at me!

Sydney's 1st Christmas Tree

It has become a family tradition of ours the last 4-5 years to go and cut down our Christmas Tree with Matt's parents. This year we found a place just outside of Bonner Springs called Pine Crest. As much as I say I would love to have a pre-lit artificial tree someday when we have the space to store it, but then we go get our tree and I think...seriously nothing says Christmas like the wonderful smell of a pine tree filling your unless someones gets allergic I think we will stick with this tradition!!! Sydney just stared at it once we lit it up tonight...I am sure half the ornaments hanging anywhere near the bottom will be pulled off by tomorrow.

Atchison, KS

We met up with Court & Spence in Atchison yesterday...

Laila & Sydney #3

Laila came over last night and got to hang out with us while Trav moved the rest of the stuff into their new house...which is fun because they will be right around the corner pretty much! She is quite the hoss these days...and will be scooting herself all over the place real soon! Sydney is Army Crawling ALL OVER the place and does really well with her balance while sitting.

The little Monkey figured out that she could hold that bottle on her own! Every time she would eat...she would grab the bottle, shove it in her mouth and immediately throw her arms out to the side hoping that we would know to catch it since she didn't want to hold it...but today, today she finally picked up on the fact that her arms are made to come forward and she can grab on to that bottle herself!!! This was the second bottle of the day...and little did she know I mixed in the rest of the veggies she wouldn't eat at lunch! She has become pretty picky with her food lately...she loves and devours her fruit and cereal every morning, but lunch and dinner is a fight...I am pretty sure she has our I figured there was no point in wasting the rest of it today and she needs the Squash-Bottle it was...and she sucked the entire thing down!!!

Reading with Dad...

Matt was reading to Sydney last between trying to EAT the book, she would look up at me whenever I pointed the camera her way and flash this giant GRIN!!!

Sister Sue Designs GIVEAWAY!!!

SO...I have mentioned this site before, and I will mention it more in the future I am sure, but I will do anything to keep her in the limelight, because I think her handmade baby items are FABULOUS! I received several as gifts during my pregnancy, gave several more to friends during theirs and I have been lucky enough to take some of the photography of her products. My friend Jen who owns Sister Sue Designs is being featured tonight through the ESTYKIDS "HOLIDAY TRUNK SHOW" at 8pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for her to continue to share what she does and I am excited to help her by passing the word along.

AND ... she is giving away one of these awesome Diaper Totes!!!

You can visit her BLOG for official information and don't forget to visit tonight and for any of your Handmade Gift needs! SHOP HANDMADE THIS HOLIDAY!!!

Tuesday, December 2, 2008'd think so! we have been down this road MANY MANY times before...but once again I am throwing it out there. I have EIGHT WEEKS...only eight weeks until my brother's wedding in Hawaii...AND that means I have to get my BUTT in gear! I have lost 3.5 pounds since we spoke last...nothing compared to what I could have lost by now...but no reason to continue to dwell...I just have to get back up and keep going. For some reason I have the ability to put 110% into everything else but MYSELF! What is wrong with this picture! So...we signed up for the COMMUNITY CENTER which is just around the corner from our house...and now it is GAME ON! I have 8 weeks to lose a minimum of 10 lbs which will put me at my pre-prego weight. If I am lucky I may just lose a few more than that. My DECEMBER GOAL is to hit the Gym everyday! I went last night and managed to get my butt out of bed at 5am this morning to be there when the doors opened at 5:30 so I could get it in before Matt went to work. So anyway...the Holidays aren't the easiest of times to try LOSING weight...but I am back on the wagon again and hope to finally start focusing on MYSELF for a change.

Where did the tolerance go???

So...we went to the KU / MU Game yesterday at Arrowhead! It was cold and the first day in KC to really start snowing! I managed to get through the first half of the game before the numerous bloody m
ary's I had with breakfast decided they didn't like me anymore! You think your tolerance comes back after 9 months on sabattical, and seeing as Sydney is 6.5 months old now...but not so much! apologies to my fellow guests and those I drunk dialed from my seat! I know Matt and I missed the second half of what I hear was a great game...he listened to it from the car...but I guess we are finally even for the John Mayer concert he celebrated passed out in the lawn at Sandstone for my Birthday last summer! - By the way, Spence thanks for that water at Halftime...although I think I lost it in the bathroom right before my glove fell in the toilet! Rock Chalk JAYHAWKS - KU still rules!

Plaza Lighting 2008...

So we made the journey down to the Plaza last night with Dave, Jen, Abby, Syd & Haiden to watch the Plaza lights come on. We know Sydney won't remember it, but it was still fun to see Abby & Haiden's reactions. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
